Years of experience on your side

As the CEO of Fame Music Academy, Carina Harding first started sharing her musical gift, by teaching organ and piano in music shops all over Cape Town, since the tender age of 16.

Even though she is classically trained, she taught many different genres and performed in numerous live situations, spanning vast musical styles with her husband, Eddie Harding.

Together, they served as sessions musicians for most of the country’s leading Country, Afrikaans and Pop artists throughout the decades, contributed to theatre productions for the top directors, such as Richard Loring, and lead the most successful function band of it’s time, ‘Gyspy’.

Carina launched Fame Music Academy in Benoni in 1992 and set a standard
for quality musical tutelage, still held up today. She was one of the first teachers in the country to use Yamaha’s ‘laboratory system’, making it possible to teach and communicate with several keyboard students at once.

Music is in our DNA

In 1991, Carina and Eddie moved up to Johannesburg with their son, Denholm Harding, who under their tutelage, became a multi-instrumentalist and would go on to join SA super group, Just Jinjer, in 1997.

He has since lived and toured all over the world and produced albums for the biggest names in South African music, including Johnny Clegg, Prime Circle, Jesse Clegg, The Voice SA winners, to name but a few.

Customized Lessons Plans

Today you’ll find Carina still writing ALL of her own curriculum, allowing her students (aged 5-75) to request any of their favourite songs of all genres and decades, to be transcribed and enjoyed.

In addition, many of her students who choose to enroll in the Trinity College
UK theory and practical exams, pass with above distinction, boasting an
average marking per student upwards of 90%. An incredible feat!

Carina is the combination of born talent, 5 decades of experience and a true passion for her craft and her students, with no signs of slowing down her pursuit for excellence any time soon.
